Books for LARS

The Friends of Laurel Library (FOLL) have partnered with the Laurel Advocacy & Referral Service, Inc. (LARS) to provide children of LARS’ clients with a book to call their own. The books are good condition used library books that the System no longer needs and donated books.

As said by Frederick Douglass, "Once you learn to read, you will be forever free." Pictured are FOLL President, Tom Dernoga presenting the first set of books to be distributed to Lori Proietti, LARS Executive Director. FOLL Board Member Theresa Held is organizing the book donation program.

FOLL’s purpose is to promote the Laurel Branch of the Prince George's County Memorial Library System; to stimulate and maintain public support for the Laurel Library; and, to supplement the Laurel Library's budget for special equipment, materials and programs.

LARS is a non-proselytizing ecumenical ministry serving the Greater Laurel area by assisting homeless and low-income individuals and families who are experiencing a crisis by providing both emergency and long-term services designed to promote self-sufficiency.

LARS’ Community Crisis Clinic, located just a few blocks from Main Street off of Route 1, offers support to families and individuals in parts of Prince George's, Howard, and Anne Arundel Counties.
