The Friends of Laurel Library

was organized in January 1996 to promote the Laurel Branch of the Prince George's County Memorial Library System; to stimulate and maintain public support for the Laurel Library; and, to supplement the Laurel Library's budget for special equipment, materials and programs.

Our membership dues, book sale profits and generous donations have provided numerous amenities for the Laurel Library including:

  • Summer and other Children's Programs,
  • Funding for special events such as the Teddy Bear picnic and the 40th anniversary celebrations for the current building,
  • Furniture for the Children's Room,
  • Shelving units for the Young Adult Area,
  • Support for the Teen Advisory Board,
  • Complimentary supply station at minimal cost at the Reference Desk, and,,
  • An annual Staff Appreciation Day in May of each year.
